@Ravivora’s “An Instagram Generation”

On April 13, @projectlife365, @christianflorin, @alexanderpavone and @mattbg held an InstaMeet at the Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles, California. 115 people turned out for the event, and one of them, @ravivora, decided to put together a film about the day and what happens when the Instagram community comes together. Check out his short film, “An Instagram Generation,” above and browse more photos from the InstaMeet under the #santamonica0413 hashtag.

Manhattan’s 5,000 payphones have turned into time machines to promote The New Museum’s latest exhibit “Recalling 1993.” The museum is encouraging New Yorkers to dial (855) FOR-1993 toll-free from any payphone in Manhattan to hear an oral history of the city from 20 years ago.

Tech design firm Control Group is working with the New York City MTA to create “On The Go” touchscreen kiosks at subway stations throughout the city. The 47-inch screens will show real-time station directions including transfers and line alerts, arrival times, and service updates. The kiosks will also display ad content to help the MTA draw more ad revenue.

The study provided an overview of the news industry’s challenges including how newsroom cutbacks are affecting coverage.
